As the Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) Engineering Program Manager for Home Key, one of Apple’s tentpole features, I led a cross-functional team of 50+ in delivering this groundbreaking feature for iPhone and Apple Watch with iOS 15. This effort involved coordinating weekly activities, driving execution, and ensuring alignment across key teams, including Wireless & Connectivity, Security, HomeKit, ADK, Human Interface (HI) designers, Apple Watch, Wallet and Apple Pay, Home Product, and Marketing. The team consisted of EPMs, engineers, and engineering management, and due to the high visibility of this feature, I provided regular status updates to Apple’s senior leadership, including Senior VP of Engineering Craig Federighi and CEO Tim Cook. Home Key set the foundation for secure, digital key storage, with its technology later leveraged by the Hospitality team to offer seamless access solutions for hotels and corporate environments.
